Our story
Howdy! We started Sunomi to solve a pretty simple problem: how can we plan our adventures better?
We’re climbers, skiers, anglers, hikers, and generally big fans of spending time in the mountains. And whenever we planned a trip, we kept running into the same problem: it was surprisingly hard to understand how everything fit together. Where are the crags or trails? Where should we stay? How far apart is everything? What does the area actually look like?
So we built Sunomi—a way to explore a destination in 3D, see the places you actually want to go, and figure out where to stay around them.
For some reason, planning a mountain trip just makes a lot more sense in 3D.
We’re building the trip-planning tool we wanted ourselves—and we’re still using it to plan where we’re going next.
A growing collection
We bring together public and community maps, information from parks and land managers, and saved lodging estimates. Coverage varies, and we continue to improve the details. Source links on the map help you check access, permits and current conditions.
Booking your trip
You make and manage your reservation with the booking provider. Hotel estimates are saved booking-site prices for the dates shown. Prices may be delayed; compare available booking sites and check the provider for the current price.
